Our philosophy...
We are not a "production" style company. We are a small, quality oriented company that pride ourselves on our reputation, workmanship, and service. Since we are small company, we are extremely efficient and have better quality control. Every job is supervised by one of the owners, not someone hired and paid by how quickly they can finish your project.
We beleive in working with you, rather you're a seasoned builder or someone taking on their own concrete project. We will work with you and are always happy to offer advice and information to help you make an educated and informed decision about your project. We work hard to make sure our customers are happy.
Protecting your investment....
We realize that concrete work is an investment both to the customer and to us. Concrete is meant to last for a long time and can be very expensive to fix. We suggest you ask your contractor to be licensed and carry both liability and worker's compensation insurance. We also suggest asking for references.
Why poured walls and ICF's are better............
We feel that traditional cast in place and ICF's are the only way to go when it comes to foundations. We will certainly argue any claim that a block or precast wall is better or even as good as a poured in place wall. Even the best block wall has one major setback, every 8" and every 16" there is a joint. This means there are many independent pieces mortared together not one solid reinforced section of concrete. At Kimmel Construction, we know how important a good footer is to any foundation. We are not convinced that placing precast concrete wall sections on top of compacted GRAVEL, instead of a reinforced concrete footing and then bolting those sections together is a better option. Our walls and footers have continuous steel rebar reinforcing througout, including wrapping around the corners. We ensure all footings bear on original undisturbed soils, loose dirt is cleaned out of the footing before concrete is placed, helping create a permanent seal. We feel gravel should never be used under footings as it gives any ground water a place to lay, and possibly compromise the earth under the foundation line. Yes, other options are accepted by code, we're just not convinced that they are a better option. Any option you choose, you should always do your own research and make sure you are making the best choice for your project.
